These Possible Lines of Development Cards (P.L.O.D.S) pose an enquiry, question or statement designed to trigger investigation and discussion, and are intended for staff to use in supporting children's play.

In order to create experiences which are meaningful and relevant for children, six key contexts are available:

• Transport

The key contexts are introduced through area-focussed activities:

• Role Play

• Discovery Den

• Outdoor Play

• Materials Tray

• Small World / Construction

A Boxed set of PLOD cards for a specific context includes six A5 cards for each activity area, so thirty cards in total, and each card also details:

• how it's linked to the curriculum

• recommended resources and content

• it's context

• appropriate progression
